Hello and welcome!!
My name is Aimee Hospodarsky, and I am honored to serve on the ISCA board as the Elementary Vice-President. I received my undergraduate degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and my MSE in Elementary School Counseling from Drake University. I am currently an elementary school counselor in Monticello, Iowa, though I have also worked as a middle school counselor and have taught kindergarten, third, and sixth grades. I have had the unique experience of working with a variety of ages in both urban and rural settings. Each experience has uniquely prepared me for my work today.
Elementary counseling is especially near and dear to my heart, and a special bonus is that I am taller than most of my students (this was not the case when I worked at middle school).
My hope is that ISCA can supply tools for your counseling toolbox in many ways: resources for your program, ideas for advocacy, curriculum ideas, access to professional development opportunities, and networking with others who do what you do, to name a few. And, if you’re one of those people who are considering getting your feet wet by being involved in ISCA, I would encourage you to jump in!! The experience of being involved in ISCA, whether in an elected position or by being involved in a committee, is a rewarding experience, both personally and professionally.
When I am away from my job, I enjoy music, reading, and spending time with my family, which includes my husband, two sons, and dog Champ (who also works as a therapy dog).
If there is anything I can help you with as an elementary school counselor, please feel free to contact me!
