I am starting my term as President Elect-Elect. I am very excited to start this journey. My vision for Iowa school counselors is to be able to provide services and resources to the students we serve. It is important to me that school counselors have all resource to do this! I think it is important that we have quality professional development and a place to turn for to ask questions. My thoughts are that none of us should be on island, especially since we are all on land.
This is my 6th year as the high school counselor at PCM High School in Monroe. This will be my 9th year as a counselor and my 13th year in education. Before coming to PCM, I was a vocational school counselor in St. Charles, Missouri. Prior to that I was an English and speech teacher in Iowa.
Personally, my husband and I have two young daughters, Quinn and Delaney. They keep me quite busy! My hobbies include Hawkeye football, college basketball, reading, being outside with my family, and working out at Kosama!
I received my Bachelor's degree from Central College in Pella with a major in Communications/Theatre and a minor in English and Education. One of the highlights of my undergrad years was studying abroad in Wales in the spring of 2000. As a started my teaching career, I felt a pull towards school counseling. I began my Master's degree at Drake and graduated with my Master's in Science Education in School Counseling in 2005.
